Mercian Trust and Q3 Merger

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know, together with our MAT (the Mercian Trust), we are consulting on a proposal to merge with the Q3 Academies Trust.  I first want to reassure you, there are no plans to change the Academy’s Admissions Policy, the uniform or the Academy day.  We are proud of our unique ethos and identity and this will not change.  We will continue to offer the same high standard of education.

We have considered the challenges and risks of such a proposal as well as the anticipated benefits; we have sought assurances where required for the benefit of our Academy community.  Like the other schools in our Trust we are only proposing this merger because we believe it will protect our Academy and open up exciting opportunities for us now and in the future.

Almost everyone wants to be in control of their own destiny and Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) must be of a sufficient size and shape to govern and improve their schools.  As MATs are required to grow by taking on schools (or being taken over by larger MATs) we want to control how that happens. The governance structure of our MAT protects our school now and will protect us in the future (post-merger).

We believe the merger is in the best interest of all our students, our staff, and our schools and Academies  – but we also very much want to hear what you think. There is more information on the consultation website.

Please come to the short virtual consultation meeting to hear more about our proposals.
