Turning Potential into Excellence

Welcome

Shire Oak Academy is an exciting and vibrant learning community where students enjoy great success in and outside of the classroom. We aim to provide an outstanding, positive learning environment and value the high quality of relationships that enable this to be true of all aspects of school life. Our Academy motto, ‘Turning Potential into Excellence’ is important to us as we prepare our students for successful adult lives in an increasingly competitive world. We support and encourage our students to try their best to achieve success in all areas and help prepare them for their future choices, not only in their academic learning, but also within other areas such as music, sport, art and drama.

Happy New Year; I hope that you have had a lovely and restful Christmas break.
Following the adverse weather last night, a review of conditions today, and the forecast tonight dropping to -6 degrees, we are adjusting arrival times for tomorrow to allow for safe travel to school and to reduce traffic congestion on black ice in the areas surrounding the school.
We are operating a staggered start:
09:15 - Year 13 students (with exams)
10:00 - KS3 Arrival - students straight to form rooms
10:30 - KS4, Year 12, and any remaining Y13 - students straight to form rooms
If students are able to get in safely at an earlier time, for example you are dropping off students in KS3 and 4 at the same time, that is absolutely fine and students can go straight to their form tutors.
We will continue to review this for the rest of week, particularly for Thursday and Friday when there is a chance of more snow.
Thank you for you understanding and support.
